20th Century Terminal Emulation Software

Back in the late 1980's and early 1990, there were two terminal emulation software packages that Mindware used for our customers to access their Unix file servers. Termlite was included with the early versions of SCO Unix and has not been supported for the last century. MultiView was a replacement terminal emulation package with a few more features. That software is still available at 75% above the cost of Anzio Lite with limited support.

Mindware is now supporting Anzio Lite 16.0 emulation software and is extremely satisfied with all of the features available within this package. Any customer that is using the Internet or importing order information from their emails would find the features to be quite helpful and a real time saver, especially if a customer sends you an order via email, you can cut and paste the order information directly into a TOP order or invoice saving input time. Listed are some of the features we think are outstanding:

	Many of our customers like to have multiple logins open at one time. Anzio Lite allows you to open multiple sessions by clicking on a 'Add Session' button and have the ability to switch back and forth between the active sessions by clicking 'Next Session'.
	You have the ability to click 'Copy' and the entire contents of your computer screen is captured and can be pasted into an email or document. This has come in handy when a customer has a warning message, error message or accounting question. The information can be emailed to Mindware for further support.
	There is also a 'Print Screen' button that will print the screen contents to your primary printer.
	You can setup any printer for your computer that is displayed in your Windows 'Printers and Faxes' screen.
	Both Telnet and Secure Shell connections are supported, along with font and font size designations.
	There are multiple flags that can be utilized - one in particular prevents a user from exiting TOP by clicking on the Windows X box thereby leaving files open in TOP and causing Error 0 - File Device Busy or Inaccessible. You can setup login name and user password so when you log in you don't have to enter the login name and Anzio will verify the password to make sure it is correct.

Vendor Price Increases

Sonicwall has published their new price list as of January 1, 2011. New prices reflect an increase in the Gateway Security Suite and the Anti Virus renewals on the TZ-170, TZ-180 and the TZ-190 units because these units have been discontinued.

They offer a new TZ line of firewalls and all of them are unlimited users. Please click on the link below to see the comparisons between the TZ-100, TZ-200 and the TZ-210. Total Order Plus 2000.Q Now Released

Total Order Plus 2000.Q has been released and is now being installed on our customer's systems. There are numerous new features in this upgrade - too many to list in this newsletter. Microsoft Security Essentials

Microsoft has released their own antivirus software called Security Essentials or MSE. The nice thing about it is 'it's free'! It is designed primarily for smaller businesses (8-10 users) and can be installed with ease.

Please be aware that MSE cannot be installed on any Windows version except Windows XP SP2 or SP3, Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Note: If you allow the McAfee AntiVirus to expire before installing Microsoft AV, you don't have to do step 1.

For customers using McAfee Antivirus on your Sonicwall, follow these instructions to get the IP address of your PC:

Click on Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt

Type the command ipconfig to display your PC's IP address --> This IP address will have to be excluded on the Sonicwall under Security Services --> Client Antivirus --> Configure. Call Mindware if you need help with the exclusion.

Next you will need to remove the McAfee Anti Virus on each PC.

Click on Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs

Highlight McAfee Virus Protection --> Click Remove

Now you are ready to install the new antivirus software. Log on to www.microsoft.com/security_essentials and click on Support before doing the download. There are videos that explains how to download the software, how to do an on demand scan for an antivirus and how to fix a threat when one is detected.

Once you click on the Download Now button, follow the prompts on your screen. If you are using Internet Explorer, a bar will display on your screen - click on the bar to continue. If you are using another browser, you will be asked what version of Windows you are using and then follow the prompts on your screen. The installation will make sure your PC passes all requirements for the installation.

Things You May Not Know About TOP

Many of our customers may not be aware that Total Order Plus has a 'User Appendix' manual, 'Online Help' manual and a 'TOP Intro" manual online on our support website www.mindwarecorp.com and can be accessed by clicking on 'Documentation' on the left side of the screen. These manuals contain numerous screens and instructions to help you with Windows issues, UnForm, UPS, Anzio Lite, Unix commands, End of Day and End of Month processing, how to use the TOP Report Writer, TOP menu commands, 'How To' reverse cash receipts payments, etc.

In this newsletter, we are publishing some of the 'TOP2000.Q Features'. UnForm Maintenance now includes the option to print an order, invoice, quote, purchase order or statement to a specific printer. If you have divisions within your company, that is also an option to print forms for a specific division and to a specific printer. Below is the new screen in TOP2000.Q.
