Estampes-Ray Museum, Quebec City, Canada
Raynald Pelletier started Estampes-Ray in 1958. Prior to starting the business, he was a press operator from 1949 to 1958 for a small print shop in Quebec City. In the early seventies, his sons Denis and Yvon joined him in the business and are currently there today. Raynald passed away in 2008.
In January of 2008, the business was moved to a new location. Moving a company from its original location of 40 years can be laborious but rewarding at the same time. In the process of moving, quite a few interesting old items were found. Denis decided to create a small stamp museum in a 72 square foot corner of the walk in area. The walls were decorated with old family pictures shot in the workplace, owners and employees celebrating the 15th anniversary of Estampes-Ray Inc., an employee operating a Ludlow, another one setting type on a typesetting machine, etc. Below are some of the pictures that are displayed in the museum.

Identifying Dangerous File Attachments
How can we tell if an email file attachment is dangerous or not? We really can't tell because the tactics used by those with malicious intent changes constantly. In general, it can be just about any type of file attachement. Usually we only open file attachments from someone we know but the 'bad guys' have heard this and they have come up with a way to make it look like the file was being sent from someone you know.
All of us at one time or another have been fooled into opening a malicious file attachment and once your PC is infected the malicious code can start sending out infected emails to everyone in your address book. When people in your address book get the tainted email, they assume the attachment is OK because it came from you.
There are some 'red flags' that everyone should be on the lookout for when it comes to these kind of messages:
|
Improper grammar and a lot of misspelled words. Many hackers operate in foreign countries and do their best to replicate the English dialect. If you are watching closely, you can recognize suspicious messages by examining the Subject or message body text.
| Assume that all file attachments are dangerous but there are some that should never be opened when sent via email unless the sender notifies you in advance. | |
|
Files with the .EXE, .ZIP, .COM, .VBS, .JSE or .BAT extensions should never be opened regardless of whom they came from.
|
If you are in the habit of sending file attachments, changing how you exchange information with your friends will help reduce any confusion. For example, post your attachments on a private sharing site and send a message with an invitation to view your images online. There are some online sites that allow you to do this for free! |
