Windows Vista and Total Order Plus
Mindware is currently testing a new PC with Windows Vista to see what is compatible with the software that we sell to our customers. As of this newsletter, the following software packages installed without any problems:

Running Old Programs in Windows Vista
If you have migrated to Windows Vista, but still have old programs that you want to run (clearly they had no idea about Vista when they were written), you may run into compatibility issues when you attempt to run them. In most cases, you will need to update the program to a more current version that is Vista compatible. In some cases, you can get the program to work in 'compatibility mode'.
Right Click on the program's executable file (.EXE ) --> Choose Properties --> Click the Compatibility tab
Check the box that says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' --> Select the operating system that worked best with the program
If it works, you can save your money to pay for gas!

Use SonicWall TZ190 Wireless to Access TOP Remotely
Product Performers, Inc., Prospect Heights, IL, recently attended a trade show and needed to be able to input orders into their TOP file server from the trade show. To accomplish this, they purchased a TZ190 wireless firewall, a Sprint phone card and had Mindware do the configuration. They were able to connect their three laptops to the SonicWall which allowed them to login to TOP from the trade show.
Ryan Petersen of Product Performers commented that the speed was actually pretty fast, there was an occasional lag, but they were few and far between. They were running all 3 laptops at all times.
Things You May Not Know About TOP
Total Order Plus has modified the A/R Cash Receipts Register and Update to post the transactions to the General Ledger by deposit code rather than by account number. This change will allow users to balance the Daily Summary of Postings to each deposit code and will enable you to check the O/E Daily Sales Journal's Terms Code recap summary, which also breaks down totals for Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc. Below is a copy of the break down on the A/R Cash Receipts Journal and the G/L End-of-Day report.

We would like to be able to print an Accounts Receivable aging reflecting finance charge invoices. Can that feature be added to the current aging?
Answer:
A new Open Invoice Report has been added to the Accounts Receivable Report Menu. The report allows you to select a customer and date range and the option to list finance charge invoices only.
